The 2008 season has begun!  To view the daily hawk sightings, click here, or call the Hawkwatch Hotline at 415-561-3030, ext. 2500 to listen to the recording.  Totals will be posted at the end of each day.

The Golden Gate Raptor Observatory (GGRO) is a program of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy in cooperation with the National Park Service.

The GGRO's mission is to inspire the preservation of California raptor populations.

The GGRO was formed in the early 1980s to track the Golden Gate migration, an annual flight of tens of thousands of hawks, eagles, falcons, and vultures—birds collectively called "raptors."

Volunteer
The GGRO is three staff members and more than 250 community volunteers, all dedicated to studying the autumn hawk migration. The GGRO's guiding philosophy is that public involvement is a critical, yet often ignored component of long-term wildlife conservation. Be a part of citizen science in action—volunteer with the GGRO!

We have begun the 2008 migration season.  If you are interested in volunteering in 2009, please email or call us with your  mailing address to receive a recruitment flyer next spring.  You are always welcome to visit Hawk Hill!
