Institute at the Golden Gate
A New Toolkit for Sustainable and Healthy Food in Parks
Dig in to Food for the Parks: A Roadmap to Success. The Institute’s newest publication works as a toolkit to offer strategies and ideas to help parks, concessionaires, food service providers, and producers expand the availability of nutritious, local, and sustainable fresh food to park visitors nationwide. The Food for the Parks initiative promotes collaboration and partnership among stakeholders as they offer more choices to park visitors; fulfilling a legacy of park values and solidifying the important role parks play in building a more healthy and sustainable world.

Our Initiatives
In conjunction with the national Healthy Parks Healthy People US movement, we support two key initiatives to help drive environmental action: Park Prescriptions, a movement to prescribe parks for health and Food for the Parks, an effort to implement sustainable food system policies throughout the National Park Service. The Institute continues to support other projects that drive action for a sustainable world. Visit our Areas of Focus page to learn more >
